Job Summary
The Research Assistant will support the organisation’s research, data collection, analysis, and reporting activities by gathering reliable information from relevant sources, conducting field and desk research, analysing data, and assisting in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and other analytical outputs. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with both qualitative and quantitative information
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Research and Data Collection
- Conduct primary and secondary research using appropriate research methods and reliable sources.
- Collect information through surveys, interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, observations, and desk research.
- Research industry trends, market developments, competitors, organisations, policies, and other relevant topics.
- Support field research activities and ensure accurate and complete collection of data.
Data Analysis and Interpretation
- Organise, clean, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
- Identify relevant trends, patterns, relationships, and insights from research findings.
- Assist in preparing tables, charts, graphs, and other data presentations.
- Verify data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Report Writing and Documentation
- Assist in preparing research reports, proposals, presentations, briefs, and summaries.
- Document research findings and maintain proper records of research activities and sources.
- Support the development of evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.
- Ensure research outputs are clear, accurate, and professionally presented.
Project and Client Support
- Provide research support for consulting and client assignments.
- Assist project teams with background research, benchmarking, market assessments, and industry analysis.
- Participate in meetings, interviews, workshops, and field assignments as required.
- Support the timely completion of assigned research projects.
Research Administration
- Maintain organised databases, research files, reference materials, and project documentation.
- Monitor relevant developments and maintain an up-to-date repository of research information.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of research and client information.
- Perform other duties relevant to the role as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Business Administration, Research Methods, Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, or a related field.
- Previous experience in research, data collection, consulting, market research, academic research, or a related role is an advantage.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools such as SPSS, Stata, R, Power BI, or similar tools will be an added advantage.
- Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and present information accurately.
